Management that combines humanism and performance: it's possible!

In this new podcast, Thierry Dupays, Coach and Associate Partner at VISCONTI, receives Florence Bravaccini, Secretary General of the CNM (National Music Center). It is out of a sense of the collective that this Paris Dauphine graduate naturally turned to the public service. Having received training as a manager coach, values such as sharing with others are at the heart of his job. Bringing teams together around a common project is a simple and effective virtue. For Florence Bravaccini, “management is life!”

Thierry DUPAYS, Partner VISCONTI, welcomes today Florence BRAVACCINI, Secretary General of the National Music Center. She is an expert in supporting the transformation of organizations and her raison d'être is both the constant search for public performance and the commitment of employees.

The role of the Secretary General

The role of the Secretary General is not well known. It is a function that is found in public organizations but also in large groups.

The Secretary General has two main missions: first of all, it is to manage the human and financial resources of organizations with his teams and therefore to structure financial and HR strategies. Then it is to design and advise the governance bodies, in particular the Board.

The general secretary must have a macro vision of the entire system and a micro vision by paying particular attention to employees.

Florence Bravaccini's daily concern is the constant search for effectiveness and efficiency in order to achieve public performance.

Over the course of her experiences, she has specialized in supporting transformation; change management is therefore one of her key skills.

Why join the public service?

Florence Bravaccini started her career in a large private telecom group. She then had the opportunity to work in an internal outplacement unit whose objective was to support the group's public employees towards public structures. It was a decisive experience for Florence, which found its way in the service of the general interest and the public service.

During this experience, what awareness?

This period in Florence's career was difficult because she suddenly became aware of the fragility of the human being. Without people, no organization, without the team nothing can be done. His management method is a management that accompanies with empathy, that listens to employees. The ideal team does not exist, it is necessary to deal with the personalities and ways of thinking of each. Even if control management clearly no longer has a place in organizations, Florence Bravaccini's role is also nevertheless to enforce the legal framework for decision-making and this requires being fair and firm.

Florence Bravaccini's current management vision

Florence's vision is that management is a demanding profession. She learned to take a step back and trained in coaching at Paris Dauphine. Being a manager is often a path to progress. It is a job in its own right, a difficult but exciting job. Today, she is fulfilled in her work and feels at home. “My planets are aligned, as they say at Visconti.”

The position of the manager of tomorrow

The best position today is that of manager-coach. This requires working on listening, knowing how to communicate and using communication tools, being able to create the support of teams around a common project, and having a real ability to adapt to work in different environments.

The most suitable ways of working for the job of Secretary General

Florence Bravaccini favors the “project” mode, which makes it possible to gain in efficiency, to make teams from different departments work transversely and collectively as well as to create cohesion around common goals.

Florence's leadership style

She hopes to be an inspiring leader for her employees. If she took this path, it is because she herself met two directors at the beginning of her career who were examples, who made her want to do this job. She followed their example and is also trying tobe an inspiring leader.

Florence's advice

To be an excellent leader, it is essential to be connected to your heart and emotions. The approach must be sincere and authentic.

Florence's greatest teaching as a leader

To feel good, the manager must be fully aligned with the values of corporate governance.
